Photo Guidelines
Please follow our photo guidelines so that we can provide you with the highest possible quality portrait. The better the quality and lighting of the photo, the better the portrait.
If you have any questions or need guidance selecting your photo, please email your image to us at hello@pupmugscollective.com and we will be happy to help you.
What makes a good photo?
Photographs should be taken on a smartphone camera or digital camera with a high resolution in order to capture as much detail as possible.
Lighting! Make sure to take your photo in a well lit area or in natural light
Close up and head on! Try to take the photo at eye level
All about the details! The eyes are important, they’re the windows to the soul after all! Try and focus on the eyes when taking the photo, if they’re not in focus then it’ll be difficult to portray your pet accurately. Get close up so we can see your pet's unique features
Make sure the photo is not blurry
Keep in frame! Be sure to keep your pet’s face in the frame. Make sure no features (e.g. ears!) are out of frame - we can't add them if they aren't in the original photo
Avoid overly filtered photos to ensure we correctly capture your pet's coloring.
Design will be checking photos as orders are placed. If there's an issue with your photo, we'll let you know very quickly via email.
If we do need a new photo from you, this may lengthen your delivery time by a few days.
Please note that if you refuse to provide a new photo after we have informed you that the original photo may not result in the best quality artwork, then we cannot refund you. It's your responsibility to ensure that you are happy with the photo you provide.
Note: All examples on our website were produced using high quality photos.
Things to avoid
Avoid taking photographs when it’s dark and there’s a lot of artificial lighting as this alters the true color of your pets’ coat and the depth of their face is lost
Do not take your photographs using Snapchat, Instagram or any other social media platform as the camera is at a lower resolution and detail is lost. Always take your photos either using a digital camera or on your smartphone camera
Do not screenshot pictures from social media, save the image first and send them to me via Email to keep the highest resolution of the photograph intact
Avoid taking photographs at a distance or looking down at your pet, this distorts proportions and eliminates detail
Do not use the cameras flash and avoid harsh shadows on their face
